This one day course is designed as an introduction to the male pelvic floor dysfunction for pelvic floor therapists who may not yet be treating the male or for those who are looking to gain a better understanding of this patient population. Participants will be provided with information specific to the male pelvis as it relates to anatomy, continence, and sexuality. Therapeutic interventions to address male pelvic floor disorders will be provided including: evaluation, sEMG biofeedback, a functional approach to exercise and strengthening, manual therapy, dietary and lifestyle modifications. Pre-surgical prostatectomy evaluation and treatment strategies will be included.

Beth Bartelsen, PT earned her BS in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in 1995. She has special interest in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders for both men and women. Beth has been practicing as a pelvic floor therapist since 2002. She earned a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy from the APTA in 2008. Currently, she practices in the Milwaukee, WI area within the ProHealth Care System on a multidisciplinary team providing outpatient therapy for urinary and bowel disorders, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and pre/post natal conditions.
