Each year, thousands of college students travel the world during their spring break vacations. Those travelling to areas in South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Jamaica may have concerns about the Zika virus.

Zika made headlines this past year when the Center for Disease Control issued travel warnings for tourists travelling to affected countries, and it was a major source of concern for athletes and fans attending the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

While many of the travel warnings have been lifted, the World Health Organization says the virus still poses a significant problem.

In the College of Health Sciences’ Marquette Presents forum, The Zika Virus: Myths and Facts, you’ll hear from a number of experts who will address the causes of the virus, symptoms of the disease and how to stay protected when travelling to an affected country.
