Marquette Presents: Concussion panel continues success of series

The second installment of the College of Health Sciences’ increasingly popular Marquette Presents series focused on the issue of concussions and the societal impact of sports-related brain injuries.

The expert panel, moderated by College of Health Sciences Dean Dr. William Cullinan, included Health Sciences faculty David Leigh, M.S., and Dr. Carolyn Smith, Marquette Law School professor Matt Mitten, J.D., former Green Bay Packer Dr. George Koonce, Jr., and Dr. Michael McCrea, professor of neurosurgery and neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The panel highlighted the importance of concussion safety and awareness and the growing threat of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, due to sub-concussive impacts.

In addition to coverage by FOX6, CBS 58, Marquette Magazine and the Marquette Tribune, the entire panel is available for viewing on the College of Health Sciences website.
