"Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass: A Relationship in 
Language, Politics, and Memory"

David W. Blight is Class of 1959 Professor of History and Black Studies at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He is the author of Frederick Douglass's Civil War: Keeping Faith in Jubilee (1989) and of Race & Reunion: The Civil War in American Memory (2001). Prof. Blight is also one of the authors of A People and a Nation: A History of the United States and one of the editors of the Bedford Books/St. Martin's Press Series on History and Culture.
