Applying to the Honors Program

The Honors Program is open to academically qualified students in any of Marquette’s seven colleges — Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences or Nursing.

Historically, we have been fortunate to receive many outstanding applications. This makes the admissions process highly selective, as we've drawn from pools of very well qualified students. In recent years, the Honors Program has received approximately 650 applications for just 100 offers of admission. Honors Program decisions for Fall 2013 will be mailed by April 1, 2013.

Important Note about Recommendation Letters

Honors Program applicants may use COPIES of academic recommendation letters submitted earlier for application to Marquette or another college or university. However, the Honors Program Review Committee is a separate review committee from the University Review Board and does not have access to original letters, so applicants must include those copies with the Honors Program application.

Eligibility and when to apply

Most students apply to the Honors Program during their senior year in high school, for admission their first semester at Marquette.  Applications from high school seniors to join the Honors Program upon matriculation are reviewed in a pooled, competitive process, with an application deadline of February 15.  Application to the Honors Program is entirely separate from application to Marquette.

The Honors Program accepts a small number of additional applicants each year from the current first-year class; interested students may inquire at the Honors Program Office, 001 Coughlin, during their first semester. Applications are due after midterm of the fall semester.
