Applying to the university Honors Program

We welcome your interest in the University Honors Program! Our goal is to welcome academically strong students by demonstrating a commitment to the ideals of academic excellence and Jesuit pedagogy and scholarship across the disciplines. We foster interdisciplinary learning, teaching, scholarship, and also excellent undergraduate research. The Honors Program at Marquette graduates students prepared for national and international undergraduate and postgraduate fellowships and scholarships.

The Program is open to academically qualified students in any of Marquette’s seven colleges — Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences or Nursing.

Historically, we have been fortunate to receive many outstanding applications. This makes the admissions process highly selective, as we've drawn from pools of very well qualified students. In reviewing applications we strive to consider the student as a whole person, taking into consideration not only academic achievement but enthusiasm and potential for future success.  We do not require minimum ACT/SAT scores or GPAs for consideration of applications.

Eligibility and when to apply

Students apply to the Honors Program during their senior year in high school, for admission their first semester at Marquette. Applications from high school seniors to join the Honors Program upon matriculation are reviewed in a pooled, competitive process, with an application deadline of February 15. Application to the Honors Program is entirely separate from application to Marquette. Honors Program decisions for admission Fall 2014 will be mailed by April 1, 2015.

NOTE ABOUT RECOMMENDATION LETTERS: You may use the same letters of recommendation for the University Honors Program application that you did in applying to Marquette, but we require separate copies.  To clarify, you may submit copies of letters already submitted. We strongly prefer that you upload your letters of recommendation with the application, but if this is not possible, your recommender may submit letters of recommendation on your behalf separately through the University Honors Program Drop Box: Letter of Recommendation Request Form; Dropbox
