Applying to the Honors Program

The Honors Program is open to academically qualified students in any of Marquette’s seven colleges — Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences or Nursing.

Historically, we have been fortunate to receive many outstanding applications. This makes the admissions process highly selective, as we've drawn from pools of very well qualified students. In recent years, the Honors Program has received approximately 650 applications for just 100 offers of admission.

Important Note about Recommendation Letters

Honors Program applicants can use COPIES of academic recommendation letters but those letters must be included with the honors program application.  The Honors Program Review Committee is a separate review committee than the university review board and does not have access to original letters. Copies are acceptable if included with the Honors Program application, essay, and activity sheet.

Eligibility and when to apply

Students may apply to the Honors Program during their senior year in high school or during their first year at Marquette.

New freshmen applications to the Honors Program are reviewed on a pooled, competitive basis with a deadline of February 15.

Current Marquette University freshmen can contact the Honors Program Office during their first (fall) semester at Marquette to inquire about application to the program.
