Information for Marquette faculty participating in the Inaugural Ceremony procession.

Dear Marquette faculty,

On behalf of the Inaugural Steering Committee, I invite you to participate in the presidential inauguration of Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., as part of the academic procession. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, in the Al McGuire Center. A luncheon celebration in the Alumni Memorial Union and Westowne Square will follow. As previously announced, classes are canceled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, September 23, so that the campus community may attend the ceremony and luncheon celebration.

Members of the procession will represent a cross-section of the Marquette family — including faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni and friends, as well as community representatives and delegates from learned societies and other universities.

Academic apparel will be worn. Members of the procession will be responsible for providing their own academic garb. If you need to order academic apparel, please complete the online order form at herffjones.com/capgown/facultydirect or call Rick Hannig at Herff Jones at (262) 363-3055 by Wednesday, August 31. If you are a member of the Jesuit order, you are eligible to receive rental apparel without charge. Please call Rick Hannig to complete your order.

Distribution of academic apparel will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, September 19, in AMU, room 448. For planning purposes, it is important that we know how many faculty will join us in the academic procession. Please notify University Special Events by Wednesday, August 31.

Please watch campus News Briefs for additional details about the inauguration festivities. Further ceremony and procession details will be sent in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or special needs, please contact University Special Events at (414) 288-7431 or universityspecialevents@marquette.edu.

We hope that you will join us for this historic campus event.

Sincerely,
John J. Pauly
Provost
