INIA Core Requirements

The following courses are the core major requirements. These courses are usually offered once a year, but scheduling difficulties may mean that they are only offered once every third or fourth semester. This means that by the time you are a junior, you should take these courses (except the Capstone Seminar) as soon as possible.

Completing these courses will fulfill the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences social-behavioral science requirement.

1. An upper division course in international economics.

ECON 151/4040 is recommended for all students except those completing the concentration in International Economics. Those students pursing the concentration may choose among ECON 154/4044, 155/4045, or 156/4046.

2. International Law (POSC 165/4601).

This course is typically offered in the fall.

3. International Organizations (POSC 167/4611).

This course is typically offered in the spring.

4. Politics of the World Economy (POSC 177/4621).

This course is typically offered in the spring.

5. World Conflict and Security (POSC 178/4631).

This course is typically offered in the fall.

6. Senior Capstone Seminar in International Affairs (ARSC 160/INIA 4997).

This course is offered every spring semester and should be taken as late in a student's career as possible. It is described in the "Capstone Seminar" section of this web page.

Course descriptions can be found in the Undergraduate Bulletin.
