Manage Junk E-mail

Your junk e-mail folder holds apparent spam messages and resides on eMarq. Check your junk e-mail folder regularly to ensure legitimate messages are not routed to this folder and to delete the junk e-mail.

Reroute legitimate e-mail that is wrongly placed in your Junk mail folder

From time to time legitimate messages may be routed to your Junk Mail folder. This situation is also known as a “false positive”.  To have false positives delivered to your regular inbox do one of the following:

Right-click the message and select Junk e-mail, then Add sender to safe sender list or Not Junk.

Or, add that sender’s e-mail address to your contacts.

Add or Remove Safe Senders

Click on the Tools menu > Options > Junk E-mail.
Click the Safe Senders tab.

Exempt your contacts and people that you send email to by checking the appropriate boxes.

Click Add to add a particular address to the safe senders list, and enter the person’s e-mail address.

Add a domain to a safe sender list, so that every message from that domain will be a safe sender, by clicking on Add, and entering a domain name (@mu.edu).
Click on OK.

Mark a message as Junk

Right-click on a message and select Junk e-mail and then Add Sender to Blocked Sender List. This action places the sender’s e-mail address in the blocked senders list. Subsequent messages from this sender will be routed to your junk e-mail folder.

Delete Junk E-mail

Messages in your junk e-mail folder count against your e-mail quota. Check your junk e-mail folder on a regular basis and delete these messages.

To move all messages in the Junk E-mail folder to the Deleted folder, right-click the Junk E-mail folder in the folder's list, and click on Empty "Junk E-Mail folder.
