Step 2: Migration (one week)

The migration process starts, but you can still make changes to your SharePoint site.

NOTE: If your SharePoint site has more than 5,000 items, this step could take longer than one week. Larger sites may be assigned to a special wave to allow more time.

This banner appears at the top of your site, but your actual migration dates may vary from the ones shown.

Step 3: User acceptance testing (one week)

Site owners receive an email from Microsoft informing them to review the site that migrated to SharePoint Online. A site owner must approve or reject the migrated site by the deadline specified or the site will automatically be moved to SharePoint Online.

Incremental

Step 4: Incremental migration (over the weekend)

The on-campus SharePoint site is locked in read-only mode while any changes are migrated to the new SharePoint Online site.

NOTE: If your SharePoint site has more than 5,000 items, this step could take longer than a weekend. Larger sites may be assigned to a special wave to allow more time.

Go-live
