In September 2011, Marquette University will replace our current Canon Multifunctional Devices (MFDs) with brand new equipment that will continue to combine printing, scanning, photocopying and faxing into a single machine. While the devices remain Canon devices, the service provider will change from IKON to Gordon Flesch Company. The upcoming program has some enhancements that will benefit end-users and is expected to lead to greater campus satisfaction.
Benefits of the Program
- Use of Magnetic Stripe Readers on each device for easy authentication for scan and fax
- Color Scanning on most models
- Better usage tracking on each device
- Use of Enterprise Fax Server on each MFD
Departmental
The most significant change to the departmental program this year will be the implementation of Canon’s uniFLOW product to track the usage on each device, based on an individual’s cost center.
- Individuals with only one cost center assigned to them will not notice any changes to the printing process
- Any user-cost center associations that have not been made to date can be added by completing the attached Cost Center change/addition form and sending to Craig Meyer.
PrintWise (Student Facing)
The student interface will be unchanged during the upcoming 4-year lease. Marquette will continue the PrintWise program on all student facing devices.
Training Schedule
The Gordon Flesch Company will be providing training.
- Training will occur during the deployment of devices to your department. MFD key contacts will receive information on specific times as we get closer to deployment.
- Follow-up training will be available on a requested basis within the department. To schedule a follow-up training session, please contact the Purchasing Department or Gordon Flesch Company.

During the transition between the IKON and Gordon Flesch devices, please expect the following:
- The day before a machine is slated to be unplugged IKON will perform a meter reading to account for final clicks.
- Print Drivers will be deployed before your new machine is expected.
- On the day of deployment, the Gordon Flesch Team will be on hand to unplug and roll away the old machine to a staging location in close proximity to the work area. They will then place the new machine and make the appropriate power and network connections.
- IKON will be retrieving the retired machines within a day or two. The transportation company removing the old machines from campus is Specialized Transportation Inc. (STI) acting on IKON’s behalf.
- Gordon Flesch will be leaving visual aids to assist in the transition and directions on the Departmental Device page.
