The goal of the Parking System Implementation project is to improve Marquette University’s parking system and experience for both permit and visitor parkers.

Overview

Eckstein Hall

A new parking system has been implemented at Eckstein Hall starting on June 19, 2017.

As a reminder, if there are no permit spots available, please go to your assigned lot. We will need to accommodate visitors, so parking for permit parkers will be limited since only one level will be open at a time until the work is complete.

The new hangtag permits will provide parkers access to park at Eckstein Hall (first-come first-served, Monday - Friday) or if you are assigned to park at Structures 1 or 2. If you are not a permit parker, you will continue to use your MUID for complimentary weekend parking.

Only one hangtag permit is provided to display from the rear-view mirror while parked in your assigned structure or Eckstein Hall. The hangtag will automatically open the gate when the parker pulls up. You will no longer need a sticker or need to swipe your MUID when parking at Eckstein Hall or if you are assigned to Structures 1 or 2. Special note - you are asked to remove the hangtag while your vehicle is in operation.

Those assigned to a surface lot will still also receive a bumper sticker and parking gate card to park in your assigned lot.

Structure 1 (16th Street)

A new parking system will be implemented in Structure 1 starting on July 17, 2017.

The new hangtag permit will be provided if you are assigned to park in Structure 1 (16th St.).

Only one hangtag permit is provided to display from the rearview mirror while parked in your assigned structure. The hangtag will automatically open the gate when the parker pulls up. You will no longer need a sticker or need to swipe your parking gate card when parking at Structure 1. Special note - you are asked to remove the hangtag while your vehicle is in operation.

Daily parkers will pay for parking as they exit Structure 1, using a credit card at either the pay-on-foot station in the lobby or the equipment in the exit lane.

Structure 2 (Wells Street)

A new parking system will be implemented in Structure 2 starting on July 10, 2017.

The new hangtag permit will be provided if you are assigned to park in Structure 2 (Wells St.).

Only one hangtag permit is provided to display from the rearview mirror while parked in your assigned structure. The hangtag will automatically open the gate when the parker pulls up. You will no longer need a sticker or need to swipe your parking gate card when parking at Structure 2. Special note - you are asked to remove the hangtag while your vehicle is in operation.

After July 14, please be aware that there is one entry and one exit lane on both the Wells St. and Kilbourn Ave. sides of the facility. During the weekday morning hours of 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., the exit lane on the Wells St. side serves as an entrance lane. Therefore, if you need to exit the structure during those hours, you must exit on the Kilbourn Ave. side.

Daily parkers will pay for parking as they exit Structure 2, using a credit card at either the pay-on-foot station in the lobby or the equipment in the exit lane.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a permit?

A permit is either a hangtag or bumper sticker depending on your assigned location. A hangtag will be used in Structure 1 (16th St.), Structure 2 (Wells St.) and Eckstein Hall. A bumper sticker will be used at all surface lots.

When are permits required?
Permits must be displayed whenever you park on the Marquette University campus, either as a sticker or hangtag.

For permit holders in Structure 1, Structure 2 and Eckstein Hall with upgraded parking technology, the permit hangtag must be displayed at all times to enter/exit the structure. If you forgot your permit, please call or visit the Parking Office to register the vehicle for that day.

How do I display my permit?
Make sure that your hangtag permit is facing outward from your vehicle’s rearview mirror. Vehicles with permits that are not clearly visible may be issued a $10 citation.

I forgot my permit. What should I do?
Enter your assigned structure using your MUID to open the gate. Call or visit the Parking Office in Structure 2 on Wells Street to inform them that you do not have your hangtag displayed. Questions may be directed to the Parking Office at (414) 288-6911.

I need a sticker permit instead of a hangtag permit; what should I do?
Sticker permits will only be used for surface lots. Structure 1, Structure 2 and Eckstein Hall will require hangtag permits. Sticker permits should be placed in the lower right (passenger’s side) bumper.

What type of permit do I need for a motorcycle?
Motorcycle parking is only allowed in Structure 1, and permit stickers must be clearly visible on the right front fork. Motorcycle parking is not allowed in Structure 2 or Eckstein Hall. Please contact the Parking Office at (414) 288-6911 for parking options on the east side of campus.

What is the process for my department to accommodate guest or special event parking?
As in the past, your department may purchase parking for guest or special event parkers. Please contact the Parking Office at (414) 288-6911 at least 3 business days (72 hours) before guest or special event parking is needed. The Parking Office will issue chaser tickets that the department will need to distribute to guest parkers to use as they exit Structure 1 or Structure 2. When the chaser tickets are ready, the Parking Office will contact the department. The department is responsible for picking up the chaser tickets at the Parking Office on Wells St. If the department cannot pick up the chaser tickets, please call the Parking Office at (414) 288-6911.

How to I pay for parking if I don't have a permit?
Visitor parking is welcomed in Structure 1 (16th St.) and Structure 2 (Wells St.). When entering the structure, please pull a ticket. When ready to leave, please pay for parking at the pay-on-foot station in the structure lobby or in the exit lane. The only payment method accepted is credit cards. Cash is not accepted.
