IT Services upgraded the Marquette Web server to new hardware on July 8, 2011. Web authors can re-establish their access to the new Web server by following these instructions.
With the server hardware upgrade comes additional changes:
- Access via eMarq/Marqnet usernames and passwords
To follow security best practices, accounts on the new Web server use eMarq/Marqnet usernames and passwords. This means all web authors will need to redo their access to the new Web server.
- Contribute users
With the move to eMarq/Marqnet usernames and passwords, IT Services can no longer send users Contribute keys for first-time setup. See instructions on how to use your eMarq/Marqnet usernames and password for access.
- Dreamweaver users
See instructions on how to use your eMarq/Marqnet username and password to setup Dreamweaver CS4 or Dreamweaver CS5.
- Connect via Samba
The new Web server will no longer offer SFTP (secure file transfer protocol) user logins. Instead, users will connect using Samba, which is built into the Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Other users
If you use neither Contribute nor Dreamweaver, see instructions on how to use Samba to connect directly to the Web server via Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Mac OS X.
- Note for select users who code in PHP
PHP is a Web scripting language used by a few sites on the Marquette Web server. IT Services requires new PHP application code to be tested and approved before it will operate on the Web server.
