John F. Ferraro, Bus Ad ’77, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2006, served as vice chair from 2011–2014, and served as chair of the board from 2014 to 2017.
He served as the global chief operating officer for Ernst & Young, responsible for the overall operations of Ernst & Young worldwide, until retiring in 2015. Ernst & Young is a leading professional services firm with more than 200,000 people in over 150 countries worldwide.
John currently serves on the boards of directors of Advance Auto Parts, International Flavors & Fragrances, and Manpower Group. He is also a principal owner and director of Turner Hill LLC.
Throughout his adult life, John has been and continues to be active in civic and charitable organizations. He currently is a member of the Boston College High School Board of Trustees and sits on the board of the Business Council for International Understanding. He is a CPA and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Born in Boston, John spent his early years in nearby Cambridge with his supportive parents and 10 brothers and sisters. He is a graduate of Marquette with a bachelor of science in business administration and is married to his college classmate, Barbara. They have a daughter, Clare, and a son, Daniel. In addition to his family, John enjoys golf, travel and history.
John was recognized by Marquette’s College of Business Administration as Alumnus of the Year in 2008. He is a member of the Marquette University President’s Society and Marquette University Legacy Society.
