*Job Description:

This student position serves as support for specific course-based digital projects (videos, infographics, websites, podcasts, data visualizations and interactive maps) and staffs a walk-in desk in the libraries’ lower-level lab from 4-8 PM M-TH.  Tutors will provide exceptional customer service and support to library users with multimedia needs, and create training materials and documents to enable user self-sufficiency. Tutors work between the hours of 4-8PM, M-TH as well as during regular business hours. Overview:

  • Provide patron assistance with equipment and software in the Digital Scholarship Lab
  • Assist students one-on-one and in small groups with various software packages (e.g. iMovie, Wordpress, Adobe CC)
  • Assist in creating videos and other online training materials for student patrons using iMovie, Adobe Premier and other digital tools.
  • Identify, test and troubleshoot digital tools and applications for classes working with the Digital Scholarship Lab.
  • Support student projects in a wide array of formats including podcasts, blogs and websites, web mapping projects and videos. 
  • Contribute to the DSL’s blog and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and expand technology skills
  • Commitment to customer service

Preferred (it’s a plus):

  • Experience in multimedia design, production, and presentation development
  • Experience creating websites, podcasts, or online video, or with blogging and social media
