History: Founded in Ireland, 1775, the Sisters of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary self-identify with the post-nominal initials, “P.B.V.M.” They made their first U.S. foundation in Dubuque, Iowa, 1874, under the leadership of Mother Vincent Hennessy. Sisters from the congregation have served the following ministries among Native Americans.

1950s-1990s	Sister Mary Dennis Lentsch protested the U.S. government’s testing of nuclear weapons in Nevada, on lands it confiscated from Shoshoni Indians
1997-unknown	A sister served as pastoral coordinator of Our Lady of the Sioux Church (Oglala), Oglala, Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
