History: Founded in Spain in 1562, the Discalced Carmelites made their first U.S. foundation in 1790. The Oklahoma Province of Discalced Carmelites of St. Therese (Little Rock, Arkansas) staffed two mission schools, which served Native Americans in Oklahoma:
