History: Founded in Spain, 1562, the Discalced Carmelites made their first U.S. foundation, 1790. The Oklahoma Province of Discalced Carmelites of St. Therese (Little Rock, Arkansas) staffed two mission schools, which served Native Americans in Oklahoma:

1910-1916, 1926-1977 St. Edward Mission (various), Pittsburg
1918-1921 (closed) St. Henry Mission (Choctaw), Bentley
