THOMAS P. WHELAN PAPERS
A collection of papers and cases of Professor of English (Emeritus) Thomas Patrick Whelan. Whelan came to the United States in 1921, and to Marquette University in 1922 as an instructor in Latin and English. He taught Shakespeare and English literature, but also taught classes in equity and labor law as a member of Marquette's law school faculty. He received a doctor of jurisprudence at Marquette.
He was a member of the regional War Labor Board, and later regional Chairman of the Wage Stabilization Board. Throughout his life he often served on labor arbitration boards and published reports and decisions of these boards. These papers include a considerable number of reports and digests of labor arbitration boards, a number of political papers, and a collection of papers about Irish literature and Irish political life.
