S. Gary Hunnewell Collection
Series 6 - Periodical Literature Tolkien

Background:   A majority of the materials within this series of the J.R.R. Tolkien Collection were donated to the Department of Special Collections and University Archives by generous private collectors and scholars, among them Richard E. Blackwelder, S. Gary Hunnewell, John Rateliff, and Nick Seidler.   The bulk of the printed material was acquired prior to the acquisition of more comprehensive collections assembled by Richard E. Blackwelder and Grace E. Funk.   These research collections may be accessed from the above list.

One of the objectives in developing this series is to document the impact of J.R.R. Tolkien's fiction in popular culture.  The department welcomes donations  Due to the sheer volume of ephemera and other three-dimensional items available in the global marketplace archivists must be selective in accepting materials.
