| Administrative History: The
Center was created in 1988 to provide a special ethics resource to Marquette University
and the community at large. Since its inception, the Center has received financial support
from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and
internal university support from various sources. In 1990, the Center completed a major
two-year program to train Marquette faculty from disciplines across the university
spectrum to integrate ethics into their own curriculum. The Center has also sponsored
various speakers programs, including its annual Jesuit Lecture on Human Values. It
published Ethics Across the Curriculum: The Marquette Experience in 1991
and Teaching Ethics: An Interdisciplinary Approach in 1994. Directors of the Center for Ethics Studies: Kevin W. Gibson, 2001-present Restrictions: Access to these records is unrestricted.
