Alfred Hiles Bergen directed the chorus from 1932 and 1936. During these years, the chorus performed as guests of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and appeared at the World's Fair in Chicago. In 1942, William J. Geisheker assumed directorship of the chorus. For the next thirteen years, he led the chorus in the performance of several operettas and two concerts annually. In 1956, Gunnar Grandquist took over as chorus director. Under his leadership, the chorus expanded its activities and enjoyed some of the most exciting years in its history. During these years, the group performed "Marquette Night at the Pops" with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and recorded four record albums. Under the directorship of William H. Ross, the chorus added extensive tours to its schedule, with trips around the Midwest; the Washington, D.C. area; and throughout Florida. Performing in a wide range of musical styles, the chorus has been well-received by audiences both at Marquette and across the country.
