| Biographical Note: Robert W. Engbring
was born on June 12, 1918 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He attended Marquette University
from 1938 to 1941 and graduated with a bachelor's of philosophy in Journalism. From
1941 to 1942, Engbring was sports writer for the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter
and state correspondent with various news agencies, including the Milwaukee Journal,
the Chicago Tribune, and the Associated Press. During World War II, Engbring
served as a flight instructor in the army reserve. He had several different careers during
his life: advertising manager, marketing director, public relations director, and
faculty member in Marquette University's College of Journalism from 1968. Engbring earned
his master of arts from Marquette University in 1970 and his doctorate from Laurence
University in 1972. He died on August 15, 2001. Restrictions: Access to these records is unrestricted.
