Christianity among the Indians of the Americas
is exemplified in the religious lifestyle of Kateri Tekakawitha, a Mohawk Indian woman now
regarded as a saint by her followers. Her importance to Native American Catholics, past
and present, is illustrated with photographs and quotations from interviews. This exhibit gathers together in one location images of items that are dispersed among several collections. The black and white photographs are drawn from the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions Records (series 9.1). Color photographs and accompanying quotations are from the Kateri Tekakwitha Project Oral History Conference collection and the Tekakwitha Conference records. |
