| " ... In our hearts as
Indians, we know she's a saint. We know because we feel it and we've experienced the
gifts. We've experienced the ministry has increased because of the lack of priests. But
also because I think Kateri, she wants us to ... be an example of what faith can do.
Indian, with an Indian in the Christian faith. And it's really ... our Indian music
ministry and then our...RCIA [Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults] instructions. Oh, I
saw many ministries ... it`s faith has brought the people together ... Somehow, I think a
miracle in itself is all the people realizing that we`re working for a common goal. And I
think it's brought on by ... Kateri."
Mark Cheresposy, Sr. (Laguna)
"And our people ... have been enriched by coming together. And finding that we had
a common bond when it came to the spirit world. And I really felt that maybe this is what
Kateri really wanted us to come together, pray together (at the Tekakwitha Conference).
And own our space in the Church, that we are Native American Catholics."
Sister Gloria Davis, S.B.S. (Navajo/Choctaw)
"And that is where I get my strength, when I appeal to the Indian personalities in
Catholic history. And we only have two: Juan Diego and Kateri, that I know of ... The Lord
is very merciful, generous to the poor. Why? Because he also was poor when he was on
earth. Jesus, that where we are, then."
