IM a Librarian

The collection of the Marquette University Libraries contains over 260,000 volumes of books, bound periodicals, and electronic media in the physical, technological, life and health sciences in addition to more than 900,000 volumes in the social sciences and humanities.

Collection Strengths

The Libraries collect all current, English-language print materials relating to dentistry as practiced in the United States.  Over 10,000 volumes are held in areas such as endodontics, orthodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, dental materials, and fixed and removable prosthetics.  The collection is supported by over 54,000 volumes in the life sciences, and over 58,000 volumes in the health sciences.  Raynor Library has more than 1,200 current serial subscriptions in the life and health sciences; over 100 of these are dental journals.

Electronic Resources

Electronic titles are rapidly being added, with more than 1300 e-journals in the life and health sciences.  Currently the full text of 60+ dental journals are available online.  The collection also includes more than 230 e-books in the health sciences.  Access to MARQCAT, the Marquette University Libraries catalog, as well as to other library catalogs, is available via the Libraries' homepage.  A collection of librarian-selected Internet sites arranged by subject is also available.  More than 250 computers loaded with Microsoft Office and image and web editing software are available in the Libraries.  Any computer connected to the campus network has access to the Libraries' databases and e-journals, and convenient off-campus access is available to Marquette users.
