Marquette’s Raynor Memorial Libraries contain over 1.6 million books, bound journals, and microforms relating to the Humanities, Social Science and Sciences.  Researchers can use Marquette's Law Library to investigate topics related to law, legislation and regulation.  Our Interlibrary Loan service provides access to collections across the country and abroad.  The Libraries' cooperative arrangements permit researchers to use the collections of other libraries in the city and state, other AJCU Libraries across the country, plus the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago.

Collection Strengths

Materials are collected to support teaching and research from undergraduate through doctorate and faculty levels in the four Engineering departments and the Engineering Management program.  Monographs, monographic series, symposia, proceedings and the publications of congresses, academies and societies are acquired.  Publications related to Wisconsin are emphasized in some subject areas.  Raynor Memorial Libraries subscribe to more than 20,000 journals in digital format, including several journal 'families' from publishers relevant to engineering and the sciences: IEEE, ASCE, ASME, SAE, ACM, CAS, IOP, BioMed Central, MD Consult, and Liebert Online

Subject emphasis is placed on specialty areas of research and teaching within each department/program:

Biomedical Engineering.  Biomechanics, Biomaterials, and Bioinstrumentation are the broad areas of collecting including Artificial Limbs/Prostheses, Cell Transport and Metabolism, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Computers in Medicine, Finite Element Analysis, Functional Imaging, Head and Spinal Cord Trauma, Human Motion Analysis, Physiological Signal Processing, Biotelemetry, Hard and Soft Tissue Biomechanics. Relies heavily on the resources of the health and life science collections.

Civil and Environmental Engineering.  A broad range of material on public works management, engineering mechanics, environmental engineering, construction and structural engineering, transportation engineering, water resources and waste water treatment

Electrical and Computer Engineering.  A broad range of materials applicable to electrical engineering are acquired with emphasis on antennas and propagation, computer and control systems, artificial intelligence, communications, signal processing, electronics, sensor systems and material properties and characteristics.

Mechanical Engineering.  A broad range of materials are sought including a strong emphases on energy, including alternative energy sources, metallurgy and materials science, mechanical systems design & analysis, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics; an emphases in manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, workplace design, materials handling, systems analysis, machine tool analysis, human factors engineering, and robotics; and an emphasis in mechanical design, modeling, simulation and control.

Engineering Management.  This program relies heavily on materials from all areas of engineering, various other science and health science disciplines as well as the collections for business and management.  In addition materials are sought on a broad range of innovation and entrepreneurial topics.

Research Sources

The Libraries' Web-based online catalog, MARQCAT, includes listings for all books and journal subscriptions held in the campus libraries.  It is accessible on and off-campus 24 hours a day. The Libraries' Web Site is the gateway to research sources with links to services, services and guides like Research Starting Points in Engineering, Health Science, or Business.  Raynor's reference collection contains comprehensive sources in engineering and technology, physical and health sciences, including dictionaries, encyclopedias, and handbooks.  Guides to recommended web sites and resources for Engineering, Standards, and Patents are maintained by the collection librarian for Engineering.

To facilitate the course work and research needs of the College, the libraries maintain a broad collection of reference and research tools in print and electronic format.
