125th Exhibit Opens in Raynor Library

September 2007--"Marquette University: 125 Years of Faith and Learning in Action," a museum exhibit curated by the Milwaukee County Historical Society (MCHS), will open on the second floor of Raynor Library on Monday, September 10th.  The exhibit will run through Friday, November 2.

The historical exhibit features more than 60 photographic images, with interpretive text drawn from Dr. Thomas Jablonsky's new campus history, Milwaukee's Jesuit University: Marquette University, 1881-1981.  The museum exhibition also features a selection of unique items from the MCHS museum collections, including the uniform of gridiron great John Sisk ('32), and a formal gown worn by singer Loretta "The Incomparable Hildegard" Sell, who attended Marquette's College of Music in the mid-Twenties.

"125 Years of Faith and Learning in Action" was made possible thanks to financial support from the Provost's Office and the 125th Anniversary Committee.  Additional financial support was provided by the Schoenleber Foundation.

Other historical projects completed for the University's 125th anniversary include Milwaukee's Jesuit University, published by Marquette University Press, and the Libraries' digital projects: the entire run of the Hilltop yearbooks; a photographic history of women's athletics since 1975; and earlier, out-of print histories of the University.
