Buttons and Gadgets for MARQCAT Searching

June 2007--Alerting frequent MARQCAT searchers! Do you want to make searching the catalog easier?  By adopting the plugin buttons and gadgets described below, you can incorporate MARQCAT into your browser.  Plugins are small, add-on applications that allow your browser to display additional content or perform a specific function, in this case searching the online catalog.  Follow the easy instructions below to get a Google MARQCAT button or add MARQCAT buttons to IE or Firefox.

Google Toolbar button (MARQCAT keyword search only)

You must first set up your iGoogle page (directions below); this will add a MARQCAT search box to your iGoogle page!

1. Go to Google.com
2. Click on the "iGoogle" link in the upper right.
3. After you create your Personalized Home page, click on "Add Stuff" on the right
4. Click on "Add by URL" link by the Search Homepage Content button.
5. Use this URL: http://www.mu.edu/library/plugins/RayMemGadget.xml

Using the Firefox browser go to http://www.mu.edu/library/plugins/PluginsMain.html
(if you are reading this, you're already here!)

1. Click on the dropdown arrow next to the Google search box
2. Select "Add MARQCAT - Search Marquette University Libraries Catalog"
3. You're done!

OR

1. go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html?name=MARQCAT&sherlock=yes&opensearch=yes&submitform=Search
2. Click on "MARQCAT search". You will be prompted to add the MARQCAT search to your search bar.
3. Click OK.

Using the IE7 browser go to http://www.mu.edu/library/plugins/PluginsMain.html
(if you are reading this, you're already here!) You need to have the Google toolbar already installed (directions above) to proceed.

1. Click on the dropdown arrow next to the Google search box
2. Go to "Add Search Providers" in the dropdown menu
3. Click on "MARQCAT-search Marquette..." in the menu that appears
4. Click "Add provider" in the popup window
5. You're done!
