March leaders in Washington D.C.October 2013 -- What impact will your research have?

World Bank and the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition kicks off Open Access Week 2013 with a panel discussion entitled, "Open Access: Redefining Impact," hosted in Washington D.C.

Raynor Memorial Libraries brings the discussion to you through a webcast of the event on Monday, October 21 in Beaumier Suite A, from 2 to 3 p.m.

A diverse panel of scientific researchers, publishers, technologists and policy makers will discuss article level metrics and changing the way scholarly communication is measured.

The panel, moderated by SPARC Execitove Director Heather Joseph, will feature:

  • * Dr. Stefano Bertuzzi, Executive Director of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB)

  • *Brett Bobley, Chief Information Officer for the National Endowment for the Humanities

  • *Dr. Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Director of Scholarly Communication of the Modern Language Association

  • *Dr. Cameron Neylon, Advocacy Director for Public Library of Science

  • *Dr. Michael Stebbins, Assistant Director for Biotechnology in the Science Division of the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy

Participants are encouraged to post their questions for the panel in advance and during the event from the OA Week Kick Off Event webpage. The event is free with no registration necessary.
