Containing 1270 titles and almost 1 million pages this collection represents the largest and most comprehensive collection of early English news media.  The Topic Guide contains more information about this collection.

 
19th Century Masterfile   from Paratext  

Index to nineteenth century periodical articles, information about books, newspaper articles, and government publications.  The core sources of this database are Poole's Index to Periodical Literature (1802-1906) and Stead's Index to Periodicals (1890-1902).  The Index to the New York Daily Tribune 1875-1906 is also available. Patent and government document indices include subject matter index of patents issued by the U.S. (1790-1873); descriptive catalog of the government publications of the U.S. (1774-1881); compilation of the message and papers of the presidents (1789-1897); Hansard's Index to debates, House of Commons only (1803-1830); and Cobett's Parliamentary history of England (1066-1803).  Dates of coverage varies but primarily 1802-1906.

Abbreviations Online   from Institut für Philosophie  

Abbreviationes, the first database of medieval Latin abbreviations, is designed for use in both learning and teaching of medieval Latin paleography.  It is also a useful reference and reference tool for scholars using medieval Latin manuscripts or early printed books.  Abbreviationes consists of a database (Main Dictionary) and a database application (Abbreviationes) suitable for everyone from the novice to the expert.  Furthermore, the database currently comprises over 70,000 entries, nearly five times as many as you would find in the printed dictionaries by Walther, Chassant, De la Brana, Cappelli, and Pelzer combined.  The Main Dictionary will continue to grow steadily since it includes annual updates and enhancements.  Internet Explorer is the recommended Web browser for use with this database.

This database covers more than 700 publications, mostly trade journals.  It's designed to help researchers study and compare specific trades and industries, including telecommunications, computing, transportation, construction, petrochemicals, and many others.  Mostly 1990's to present, though there are some journal titles for which coverage goes back to the 1980's and a very few going back to the 1970's.

Provides historical coverage for over 2,000 newspaper titles.  Fully searchable are tens of millions of newspaper pages (in PDF) from the U.S., Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, Germany, South Africa and the United Kingdom.  There are over 700 Wisconsin newspapers represented. Access NewspaperARCHIVE is a subset of NewspaperArchive.com. Coverage varies by title, however, some go back to the 1700’s.  Many of the titles cover the 1800’s and 1900’s.  Access to this database is funded by the State of Wisconsin and it is available only in Wisconsin.

Features cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts to 300 key publications in accounting, auditing, and financial management from the U.S. and overseas, including AICPA and FASB publications.  Also included are citations to relevant articles from over 800 newspapers, business journals, dissertations, and news magazines,making this database an authoritative resource for accounting and financial information.  There is only limited full-text (~200 titles).  Coverage is 1990 to the present for all publications, but a few publications are indexed as far back as 1971.

Aristoteles Latinus Database  from Brepols picture of CD-ROM

Provides access to the complete corpus of medieval Greek-Latin translations of the works of Aristotle which includes the texts that have been critically edited in the print series Aristoteles Latinus.  Other corpuses, both published and unpublished (future) editions, will be added to those of the Aristoteles Latinus series.  However, the electronic database will not be identical to the printed editions, as it will not contain the prefaces in which the manuscript tradition is described, nor will it include its apparatus of variant readings, their Greek-Latin comparative apparatus, or its bilingual indexes.  The ALD provides an integrated database of medieval translations of Aristotle's works.  The electronic and the printed editions are thus intended to be complementary.

BadgerCat is a project of Wisconsin Library Services (WiLS) and was created and funded by a subset of Wisconsin libraries.  Only authorized users from these libraries can search the database.  Marquette University is a particpant in this project.  BadgerCat contains the holdings of 500+ Wisconsin libraries and is a subset of the WorldCat database.

The BASIC WEEKLY database contains approximately 500 weekly time series that date as far back as 1959 where applicable.  Whenever possible, monthly counterparts are available in the DRI BASIC ECONOMICS database.  Financial variables, banking statistics, commodity prices, and other economic indicators from various Federal agencies and private organizations are included in this weekly database.  3 & 4. The DRI BASIC DAILY & FX (Foreign Exchange) databases are comprised of about 700 financial variables, commodity prices, interest rates and foreign exchange rates.  These data are uniquely stored at a weekday frequency where weekends are not included in the series.

Literature Online (LION)   from Chadwyck-Healy  Search Tips  

LION contains the full text of 350,000 works of English and American poetry, drama, and prose from the Anglo-Saxon period through the twentieth century.  Literary criticism can be found through ABELL (Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature, containing over 854,000 citations for scholarly books, articles, and reviews from 1920 to the present) and MLAIB (MLA International Bibliography, with its 1.7 million records from 1963 on), including the full text from 160 journals.  The database can be searched by author, text, or criticism and reference.  LION also offers the option of browsing the complete contents, full text journals, author index, or poets on screen (a multimedia feature).  Literary texts range from the seventh to the twentieth century.  Journal full text covers from 1988 to the present.

LLMC Digital   from LLMC  

Core publications from the executive, judicial, and legislative branches are represented, including the U.S. Statutes at Large, Official Opinions of the Attorneys General of the United States, and Decisions of the United States Department of the Interior.  Material from over fourteen states is currently available, and ranges from Michigan house and senate journals to California Supreme Court and Appellate Reports.  Key legal reference works in Anglo-American law, such as the Century Edition of the American Digest, are represented, as are secondary sources such as legal periodicals and case reporters.  International law sections include primary and secondary legal materials from countries as varied as Great Britain, Canada and India.  Coverage is primarily historical, reflecting the consortium's focus on historical legal and government publications.  While some of these publications may be available in print or microfiche in libraries, particularly federal and state depository libraries in the United States, electronic versions are in many cases unique to LLMC Digital.  Also includes other material of significant interest to historical researchers and students, such as the constitutions and bylaws relating to Native American tribes, is also available.  As the collection develops it should include more publications with an appeal beyond the legal and academic communities.  Multi-jurisdictional collections relating to the British Empire, Native Americans, and Military Law are particularly promising.  Coverage varies by document.

Migne's Patrologiae Graecae  from Religion and Technology Center  

Patrologiae Graecae is a collection of the writings of the church leaders who wrote in Greek, including both the Eastern "Fathers" and those Western Christians who wrote before the Latin takeover of the West in the third century.  It includes, for example, the early writings collectively known as the Apostolic Fathers, such as the Epistles of Clement and The Shepherd of Hermas, the church historian Eusebius, the controversial theologian Origen, and the Cappadocian Fathers Basil the Great, Gregory of Nazianzus, and Gregory of Nyssa.  PG's coverage extends to 1439, the date of the Council of Florence.  The texts are generally interlaced, with one column of Greek and a corresponding column on the other side of the page that is the Latin translation.  Where the Greek has been lost, such as in Irenaeus, the full text appears only in Latin, and the extant Greek fragments of the work are interspersed throughout the Latin text.  In one instance, the original is preserved in Syriac only and translated into Latin.  1st century A.D. to 1439.  VPN required for off-campus access.

Thomson One Banker (T1B) is a portal to company information for approximately 12,000 US (the Disclosure dataset) and 13,000 foreign (the Worldscope dataset) public companies, representing about 96% of world market value in 50+ countries.  T1B also includes data about mergers & acquisitions in the Deals Analysis module.  Internet Explorer MUST be used for full functionality.  There are two interfaces: Thomson One Banker (the default), and Thomson Research.  The T1B interface can be used to: find pre-formatted information on currently active companies, or to perform screenings for companies based on various criteria.  Use the Thomson Research interface to research corporate documents (including full-text searching) for both active and inactive companies; you get to this interface from within the T1B interface by using the ‘Jump to’ drop-down menu feature (center of the top menu bar).  This will open a new browser window; it may also log you out of your Thomson One Banker session.  The database includes SEC (EDGAR) filings or documents; Annual Reports to Stockholders (and foreign equivalents); I/B/E/S tearsheets; and extracted financial data (spreadsheet format).  Indexing of SEC filings from 1968 to present.  Full text coverage: of SEC filings begins mostly in 1993, of US Annual Reports to Stockholders beginning mostly in 1997, of international company annual reports beginning in 1997, current I/B/E/S tearsheets only.  M&A Deals (mergers & acquisitions data) from 1985–present.

Vetus Latina    from Brepols  

The huge panoply of Latin biblical texts which were in existence and use from the second century AD/CE until the time when the Vulgate became predominant are known under the common rubric of the Vetus Latina, or the Old Latin, Bible.  The term Vetus Latina refers to all those biblical texts translated into Latin which are not found in the Vulgate.  The textual tradition of the Vetus Latina is complex and incomplete.  Because there are a limited number of extant manuscripts that haphazardly cover the biblical text the basic sources are biblical citations or allusions that are found within the writings of the Latin Fathers or Greek patristic authors who were translated at an early date into Latin.  This database contains every citation, listed by book, chapter and verse of the Bible.  The citations can be searched individually or as a whole, following the biblical structure.  Within Vetus Latina the complete repertorium of H.J. Frede (Kirchenschriftsteller : Verzeichnis und Sigel, Freiburg, 1995) can be consulted online, as well as its updates.

The Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library provides data and information about nursing research.  There are two main components of the library - The Registry of Nursing Research includes information on nurse researchers, their research projects, and the findings of their research.  The Online Journal of Knowledge Synthesis for Nursing is a full-text peer reviewed publication with articles that synthesize research on various topics, note the implications for clinical practice, and make recommendations for future research.  The Registry began in 1997 but includes some prior material.  The Online Journal of Knowledge Synthesis for Nursing began in 1993.
