Access NewspaperARCHIVE is a subset of NewspaperArchive.com. Coverage varies by title, however, some go back to the 1700’s.  Many of the titles cover the 1800’s and 1900’s.  Access to this database is funded by the State of Wisconsin and it is available only in Wisconsin.

Dissertations and Theses   from ProQuest  

This database contains records for more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses.  Also included is the full text content for nearly 900,000 dissertations.  Includes extensive coverage of North American graduate schools, with coverage of some European universities beginning in 1989.  Includes bibliographic record of dissertations written in the United Kingdom and Ireland from as far back as 1716, with full abstracts, for titles available from 1986 in 'ProQuest Dissertations and Theses.  A separate database contains the subset of Marquette University doctoral dissertations in full text.

 
Dissertations - CRL Foreign Doctoral Dissertations  from Center for Research Libraries  

The Center for Research Libraries in Chicago has the largest collection of dissertations from foreign universities in North America.  These dissertations are readily available through Interlibrary Loan.  The Web site linked here takes you to CRL's online catalog of the dissertations.  Be sure to read the introductory information on the site, because there are special search features and because their cataloging is ongoing.  Thus all their holdings are not accessible here, though you can use other means to locate uncatalogued material.

Search and browse current article information from over 25,000 publications.   The database provides brief descriptive information for over 11 million articles.  You may search the database by topic and find a list of article citations or browse tables-of-contents of journals.  Ingenta offers the opportunity to order and pay for fax copies of articles.   While full-text articles are not available via Ingenta they may be available via subscriptions through other vendors.  Check the journal title in MARQCAT.

Online resource for compiling bibliographies and citations.  Requires a RefWorks account created on a campus computer.  Bibliographies can be printed, exported, and/or changed to another format (MLA, APA, etc.)  Many database vendors (ProQuest, Ovid, etc.) allow for the exporting of citations directly to an established RefWorks account.

Science.gov is an interagency cooperative providing a unified search of the government’s scientific and technical information.  30 databases and over 1,700 web sites are included.  Material is selected by the following agencies: Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health & Human Services, Interior as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, NASA, National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Government Printing Office.  Science.gov mainly provides citiations and in some cases abstracts.

The Times (London) 1790-1905  from Chadwyck-Healy  

Indexes articles in The Times of London through Palmer's Index to the Times 1790-1905.  Indexing is continued via Official Index to The Times, 1906-1980.  The library owns a back file of The Times from March 18, 1788 to present and the Sunday Times, 1993-present on microfilm (Microfilm S-101).  Current issues are available in Raynor Library Periodicals
