Dissertations and Theses   from ProQuest  

This database contains records for more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses.  Also included is the full text content for nearly 900,000 dissertations.  Includes extensive coverage of North American graduate schools, with coverage of some European universities beginning in 1989.  Includes bibliographic record of dissertations written in the United Kingdom and Ireland from as far back as 1716, with full abstracts, for titles available from 1986 in 'ProQuest Dissertations and Theses.  A separate database contains the subset of Marquette University doctoral dissertations in full text.

 
How Many? A Dictionary of Units of Measurement  from Univ. North Carolina  

This dictionary includes all the units of the International System of Units (SI); many other units of the metric system used in everyday life or in science, either currently or recently; various non-metric scientific units such as the astronomical unit, the electronvolt, and the parsec; all the units of the English traditional systems that can be defined with reasonable precision; selected traditional units from cultures other than English; and certain measurement terms and notations which are not "units of measurement" in a strict sense, but which are used much as if they were.

 
Journal Citation Reports - Science & Social Sciences  from ISI  

This unique multidisciplinary resource presents quantifiable statistical data that provides a systematic way to determine the relative importance of journals within their subject categories, including highest impact journals, most frequently used journals, ‘hottest’ journals, and largest journals. The "Science" portion covers about 5,000 leading international science journals from ISI database and the "Social Science" portion covers 1700 leading journals from Social Science Citation Index.  Basic information about each journal is also included, e.g. publisher, frequency, title changes, subject categories assigned, etc.  Covers 2004 to 2006.  VPN recommended for off-campus access.

 
MathSciNet   from American Mathematical Society  Search Tips  

Covers pure and applied mathematics and statistics, including applications to other fields, such as physics, computer science, and engineering.  Most entries contain either an author's abstract or a critical review.  Includes bibliographic citations and abstracts of journal articles, conference proceedings, and books from Current Mathematical Publications (CMP) and Mathematical Reviews (MR).  1940 to present.

 
NASA Astrophysics Data System   from NASA  Search Tips  

Over two million abstracts from four databases comprise the Astrophysics Data System.  The databases included are:  Astronomy and Astrophysics, Instrumentation, Physics and Geophysics, and the arXiv.org preprints in Astronomy.  Abstracts are taken from publications, colloquia, symposia, proceedings, and NASA reports.  Topics included cover astronomy related subjects including electrical engineering, astrophysics, particle physics, and optics.  Included are bibliographic records and abstracts from journals, publications, conferences, proceedings, and internal NASA reports.  Journals and Conferences included in the Astrophysics Data System

ProQuest Central  from ProQuest  

Multidisciplinary database with 11,000+ titles, with over 8,000 titles in full-text.  It serves as the central resource for researchers at all levels in all markets.  Over 160 subjects areas are covered extensively including business and economics, health and medical, news and world affairs, technology, social sciences and more.

 
ProQuest Research Library   from ProQuest  

Indexing, abstracts and selected full text or full images of articles in a wide range of magazines and journals.  It includes general interest and news publications as well as selected scholarly journals.  Includes bibliographic citations and abstracts of periodical articles; some full text and full image articles.  Coverage varies by title with good coverage for late 1980's to present, some earlier coverage.

Science.gov  from USA.gov  

Science.gov is an interagency cooperative providing a unified search of the government’s scientific and technical information.  30 databases and over 1,700 web sites are included.  Material is selected by the following agencies: Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health & Human Services, Interior as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, NASA, National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Government Printing Office.  Science.gov mainly provides citiations and in some cases abstracts.
