Provides unlimited access to more the than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials.  Advanced search interface allows for multiple concept searching.  Journal articles are generally not available full-text within the database but the records have a Find in a Library link that connects to Findit@MU for locating Marquette’s holdings.

International coverage of over 3,800 journals in the fields of medicine, public health, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences.  Medline encompasses information from three print indexes, Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International Nursing Index, as well as other sources of coverage in the areas of allied health, biological and physical sciences, humanities and information science as they relate to medicine and health care.  1966 to present.  VPN required if off-campus and also using RefWorks.

 
Mental Measurements Yearbook  from EBSCO  Search Tips  

A comprehensive guide to over 2,000 contemporary testing instruments, contains information essential for a complete evaluation of testing and assessment products covering such diverse areas as psychology, education, business, and leadership.  Entries contain descriptive information (e.g., test purpose, publisher, pricing) and edited review(s) written by leading content area experts.  To be included in the MMY, a test must be commercially available, be published in the English language, and be new or revised since it last appeared in the series.  Coverage is from the 9th Yearbook (1985) to the present.  Previous yearbooks are located in the Raynor Reference Collection BF 431 M44.

AccessScience is the online version of the latest edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology with access to all the articles, fully illustrated.  In addition, it includes new trends and developments in science and technology from the McGraw-Hill Yearbook of Science and Technology volumes, and definitions from the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific & Technical TermsAccessScience also includes biographies of scientists, Nobel Prize winners in all fields for all years, headlines from the journal Science News, and links to related web sites.

 
Alcohol Studies Database  from Rutgers Univ.  Search Tips

Uses a specialized search strategy to retrieve citations from the cancer subset of PubMed.  Indexes over 4600 biomedical journals.  1960's to present.

 
Defining Gender, 1450-1910   from Adam Matthew Pubs.  

Database of primary sources dating between 1450 and 1910 copied largely from research libraries in Great Britain.  Primarily "advice literature," the sources address such themes as household management, education, leisure, shopping, sexuality, consumption, and sports.  The material is arranged thematically, along with essays by leading scholars.  The database is in five segments.  Defining Gender includes indexing that directs researchers to larger holdings of similar literature available on microform.  VPN required for off-campus access.

 
DIRLINE (Directory of Health Organizations)  from National Institutes of Health  

Provides approximately 10,000 records with location and descriptive information for government agencies, information and referral centers, professional societies, self-help groups, and academic and research institutions in health and biomedicine.  Topics include maternal and child health, diseases and conditions, and health services research and technology assessment.  Current information only.

 
Dissertations and Theses   from ProQuest  

This database contains records for more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses.  Also included is the full text content for nearly 900,000 dissertations.  Includes extensive coverage of North American graduate schools, with coverage of some European universities beginning in 1989.  Includes bibliographic record of dissertations written in the United Kingdom and Ireland from as far back as 1716, with full abstracts, for titles available from 1986 in 'ProQuest Dissertations and Theses.  A separate database contains the subset of Marquette University doctoral dissertations in full text.

Francis  from CSA  

Multi-disciplinary database produced in France which indexes over 4,200 journals in the humanities and social sciences since 1984.  The subject descriptors and the abstracts are in both English and French.  It is particularly strong in religion, art history, literature, psychology, philosophy, education, linguistics, archeology, information science, and sociology.  Included are bibliographic citations to books as well as book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, exhibition catalogs, reports, legislation, teaching materials, and french dissertations.  1984 to present.

 
HaPI: Health and Psychosocial Instruments  from Ovid  Search Tips

Journal Citation Reports - Science & Social Sciences  from ISI  

This unique multidisciplinary resource presents quantifiable statistical data that provides a systematic way to determine the relative importance of journals within their subject categories, including highest impact journals, most frequently used journals, ‘hottest’ journals, and largest journals. The "Science" portion covers about 5,000 leading international science journals from ISI database and the "Social Science" portion covers 1700 leading journals from Social Science Citation Index.  Basic information about each journal is also included, e.g. publisher, frequency, title changes, subject categories assigned, etc.  Covers 2004 to 2006.  VPN recommended for off-campus access.

 
Lexi-PALS Drug Guide  from EBSCO  

Lexi-PALS Drug Guide is a database of Patient Advisory Leaflets from Lexi-Comp providing education on medications for patients.  Each pamphlet presents a medication in an easy to follow and understand question-and-answer format. Over 1,450 medication and natural product leaflets, are included with an additional 600 Spanish language leaflets representing the most subscribed and commonly used medications.  Funded by BadgerLink this database is available in Wisconsin only.

 
MD Consult   from Elsevier  

40 medical reference books, over 50 medical journals and clinics, over 1,000 peer-reviewed clinical practice guidelines and Mosby’s GenRx, which includes information on over 30,000 medications.  Additional features include patient education materials, daily summaries of key publications, and a weekly review of health information from the lay press with links to related clinical information.&bnsp; Full-text coverage is available from 1995 or 1996 to the present for most publications.  VPN required for off-campus access.

PubMed includes bibliographic citations and abstracts from over 5100 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries.  The molecular biology databases include DNA and protein sequences, genome mapping data and 3-D protein structures.  1950 to present.

 
Minority Data Resource Center  from I.C.P.S.R.  

Provides educators, researchers and students with data resources that can be used in the analysis of issues affecting racial and ethnic minority populations in the United States.  Data available for secondary analysis through MDRC span a variety of topics including housing, health, education, crime, income and wealth, youth behavior, and politics.  Ethnic and racial oversampling, as well as large sample sizes permit opportunities to analyze and learn about issues that affect race and ethnic minority populations.

 
NLM Gateway   from National Institutes of Health  

Provides a single interface for searching multiple resources from the National Library of Medicine including Medline, Old Medline, LOCATORplus (NLM's online catalog), and Medlineplus.  Includes bibliographic citations and abstracts of journal articles; NLM catalog records for books, journals and audiovisual materials; meeting abstracts on AIDS/HIV; and consumer information on health conditions and medications.  Journal citations are available from 1958 to the present.

 
PILOTS Database   from National Center for PTSD/CSA  

This database, produced by the National Center for PTSD, indexes literature from around the world on post-traumatic stress disorder and other forms of traumatic stress.  Includes over 24,000 citations, most with abstracts, to journal articles, books, book chapters, dissertations, pamphlets and technical reports.  19th century to the present.

 
PrimateLit  from Univ. of Wisconsin-Primate Lab  

Provides bibliographic access to the scientific literature on nonhuman primates for the research and educational communities.  Coverage of the database spans 1940 to present and includes all publication categories (articles, books, abstracts, technical reports, dissertations, book chapters, etc.) and many subject areas (behavior, colony management, ecology, reproduction, field studies, disease models, veterinary science, psychology, physiology, pharmacology, evolution, taxonomy, developmental and molecular biology, genetics and zoogeography).

Tests in Print   from EBSCO  

Produced by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements at the University of Nebraska, Tests in Print (TIP) serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are currently in print in the English language.  Tests in Print provides information to users including test purpose, test publisher, in-print status, price, test acronym, intended test population, administration times, publication date(s), and test author(s).   A score index permits users to identify what is being measured by each test.  TIP is directly linked to the critical, candid test reviews published in the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) series.  Users can research current test information from the TIP series and continue their search to all available test reviews published in the MMY series.
