Laptop

Thanks to a 1999 award from the Marquette Parents Association, the Libraries launched a program to make laptops available for loan to students.  The initial 15 Toshiba Laptops were retired in 2003 with over 15,570 circulations.  The Toshiba units were replaced with HP Compaq units which were retired in 2005 with 20,854 circulations.

Current laptops are available for 4-hour, in-library checkout to students with their MU photo ID.  The Raynor Library Reserve Desk (lower level) has 15 IBM ThinkPad laptops, running Windows XP, complete with a carrying case, power cable, color display, integrated wireless card, CD/DVD and external floppy drive.  Equipped with Microsoft Office Professional (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) students are able to print via PrintWise as well as access networked electronic reference databases.
