  • MathSearch
To search a collection of over 200,000 documents on English-language mathematics and statistics servers across the Web, enter one or more ``phrases'', then start the search. Note that most of the material is concerned with research-level and university mathematics.

General

  • Euclid's Elements
An online version. Figures are provided in the form of interactive Java applets.
  • History of Mathematics
This site contains brief histories of mathematical topics, famous curves, and links to other Web sites.
  • The Mathematical atlas: a gateway to modern mathematics
This is a collection of short articles designed to provide an introduction to the areas of modern mathematics and pointers to further information, as well as answers to some common (or not!) questions.  The material is arranged in a hierarchy of disciplines, each with its own index page.
  • Mathematical Snippets
Contains descriptions of six mathematical concepts: the Pythagorean Theorem, Archimedes' Tombstone, the Mobius Strip, the Koch Snowflake Curve, Plateau's Problem, and Counting to Infinity.  Each snippet contains a very brief history and an explanation of the concept.  Illustrations are used to convey the physical meaning and consequences of each concept.
  • The Prime Page (prime number research, records and resources)

Journals

  • The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics
  • Electronic Journal of Differential Equations (EJDE)
Published and sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, Southwest Texas State University.
  • Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis (ETNA)
Electronic journal for the publication of significant new and important developments in numerical analysis and scientific computing; published at Kent State University.
  • Elsevier Science Homepage
Useful information for authors intending to publish in an Elsevier journal.
  • Geometry & Topology
Geometry and Topology is an annual journal published in association with the Mathematics Department of the University of Warwick. Free full-text online; select PDF file with embedded fonts.
  • Journal of Graph Algorithms and Applications
  • Math on the Web: Mathematical Journals
  • Modeling and Simulation
Published by the Society for Modeling and Simulation International.
  • New York Journal of Mathematics
The _New York Journal of Mathematics_ (_NYJM_), based at the State University of New York, Albany, is the first electronic general journal of mathematics. This online journal is refereed by mathematicians at top North American universities and provides high quality articles (1994-present) covering topics in matrix and linear algebra, geometry, and other general math. Users can read the articles in a variety of formats (.pdf, .ps, .txt, .gif), and view the _NYJM_ with full graphics or through the "no frills" option, ideal for readers with older browsers. A search engine, links to mirror sites and to authors (when available), and submission instructions are also available.
  • Online First
Provided by Springer Verlag; full-text articles appear online well before they appear in print.
  • Science News Online
The online version of the magazine Science News. Full-text of many articles available free.
  • Springer Verlag Index to Books and Journals
Provides access to tables of contents and abstracts. Subscriptions are needed to obtain full-text of articles.

Major Web Sites

  • EEVL, the Internet guide to engineering, mathematics, and computing
    Catalogue of mathematics internet resources.
  • Math Archives
Mathematics Archives, from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, provides a wide range of links to software, teaching materials, and topics in mathematics, together with a searchable database.
  • MathGate
Part of the Edinburgh Engineering Virtual Library (EEVL) hub for Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, this metasite indexes Internet resources related to mathematics. The site focuses on the United Kingdom-based resources, but includes sites from around the world. The annotated site listings may be browsed by subject and type or searched by keyword. A collection of links to other major math resources is also provided.
  • Math-Net
    Internet information services for mathematicians.
  • The Newton Project
Formed in 1998, The Newton Project aims to make all the surviving works of Sir Isaac Newton available in a form suitable for research by scholars and for browsing by an informed public.  The Newton Project emphasizes Newton’s theological, alchemical, and nonscientific works.
