Coordinator of Outreach, Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Research to allocate staff time and resources in the provision of research and outreach services; Serve on the library’s Administrative Council; Represent the library on the University Assessment Committee and provide input on policy decisions; Serve as the liaison to the College of Professional Studies; Encourage professional development and seek funding support; Oversee the desktop applications support service in the Information Commons and maintenance of the Lanier system; Identify programmatic needs for instruction; Coordinate library instruction for summer enrichment and minority-based programs; Identify promotion needs for services and resources. 7/03-Present

Notable projects:
  • Observed an environment of uncertainty surrounding assessment rubrics on campus and the need for faculty access to examples relevant to Marquette. Identified an opportunity to provide support with the development of an award-winning rubric publication in collaboration with the colleges of Communication and Arts & Sciences. Received funding from both units. Co-wrote a cover memo with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Programs.
  • Mobilized the reference department’s Instruction Team to review assessment instruments and measure the information literacy skills of freshmen. Anticipated issues, prioritized work, and reported the assessment results to the library board and the University Assessment Committee.
  • Facilitated change during a departmental reorganization to a team structure, including identifying issues, listening to departmental member concerns and working towards solutions with a collaborative approach when possible.
  • Identified student concerns and library usage patterns via a survey. Surpassed the participation goal with 1100 respondents.

Administered the library’s instruction programs, including a supervisory role in relation to instruction librarians; Coordinated instruction-related professional development; Oversaw the First Year English library instruction program. 9/97-6/03

Notable projects:
  • Collected patron data via a faculty survey, the LibQUAL survey, and a focus group. Analyzed the data and shared the results widely to inform future decisions.
  • Provided leadership on a ULG “digital access measures” data project and reported findings and recommendations at a ULG directors meeting.
  • Coordinated a ULG comparative LibQUAL analysis. Worked directly with LibQUAL’s creator, defined parameters, produced comparative charts, and communicated results to other participants via passworded web pages.

Notable projects:
  • Co-directed the library’s catalog automation project. Reviewed proposals, attended meetings at the vendor’s headquarters, and assisted with start-up issues.
  • Co-directed the library’s reclassification and barcoding project, including supervision of approximately thirty temporary employees. Removed the entire collection from the library’s shelves and re-shelved it over a four-week period.
