Orientation
The pre-departure orientation (mandatory for all Marquette students) will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 10 am to 4 pm in the Alumni Memorial Union Ballrooms.
Passports
If you do not have a passport already, you should apply for one as soon as possible, as it will be needed to apply for your Spanish visa. Information on how to obtain a passport can be found at www.travel.state.gov.
Visas
As a student studying in Madrid, you are required to obtain a student visa. This visa is a special stamp in your passport issued by the Spanish government, which allows you to enter and stay in Spain for longer than the typical tourist stay. The visa application requires a number of supporting documents that can be time-consuming to obtain, therefore we recommend that you begin to collect these documents as soon as possible, even if you are still waiting for your passport to arrive.
See more details regarding obtaining your visa.
Housing
Housing is assigned on a first come, first served basis. The housing applicaiton must be submitted no later than November 9, 2009. Please indicate your housing preferences on the application and e-mail the application as an attachment to
Paloma Fontcuberta, Administrative Assistant in Madrid, at paloma.rueda@marquette.edu. Please be sure of your preferences before submitting your housing application as preferences cannot be changed once you have submitted the application. Placements will be made according to the date of receipt of your e-mail.
Class Registration
You will not be required to register for next semester’s courses before your departure. This will be done for you before the commencement of your semester in Spain.
For students from Marquette University: you are required to meet with your academic advisor this semester and you must turn in a completed and signed registration card to your college as required.
For students from other universities: check with your study abroad advisor for the specific abroad class registration procedures of your home university.
