1970-1979

1971

Dr. John Janikowski, Arts ’71, received a certificate of knowledge in clinical tropical medicine and traveler’s health from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is a board certified family physician, residing and practicing medicine on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

1975

Janine P. Geske, Law ’75, received the American Inns of Court Professionalism Award.

Peg (Piskura) Olson, PT ’75, received 10-year recertification as a neurological clinical specialist in physical therapy from the America Board of Clinical Specialists.

Bertrand J. Simpson, Arts ’75, was elected to the city council of Dekalb, Ill, representing the citizens of the 1st Ward.

1976

William A.J. Drengler, Law ’76, was appointed to the Wisconsin State Public Defender Board by Gov. Jim Doyle and confirmed by the Wisconsin State Senate in a 33-0 vote. He also was elected chair of the Wausau Salvation Army Advisory Board.

Robert F. Finnie, Bus Ad ’76, published the book Coaching Coaches … for Players, Parents and Coaches from Youth through High School-age Sports. He has served as a volunteer coach for 30 years for various sports teams around the Milwaukee area.

1978 Reunion Year

John E. Lyons Jr., Arts ’78, was appointed by Gov. John Lynch to chair the New Hampshire State Board of Education.

W. John Paquette, Jr., Jour ’78, received the College Sports Information Directors of America 2007 Arch Ward Award, which recognizes CoSIDA members for outstanding impact in the world of college sports information.

1979

Daniel J. Kadlec, Sp ’79, launched the column “The Boom Years” in Money Magazine to address the financial concerns of baby boomers. He is also working on his third book, tentatively titled From Success to Significance, which is about finding relevance and fulfillment in your retirement years through service to community and informed activism.

Melaine S. Rothey, Arts ’79, joined the law firm of Jones, Gregg, Creehan & Gerace LLP. She heads the firm’s domestic relations practice group.

Virginia (Bronesky) Stuesser, Jour ’79, has been named instructor/advertising at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She also consults with Staples Marketing in Milwaukee and Gabriel deGrood, Bendt in Minneapolis on media strategy, planning and buying. She lives in Waukesha, Wis.
