Olympian dreams
Wow! I can’t believe I’m in college. Don’t get me wrong — high school was great, but college will be even better. My speed-skating career is on the up-and-up after training in Salt Lake City over the summer and at the U.S. Olympic Education Center last year. Milwaukee has an awesome facility with both a long- and short-track program that I can participate in. This kind of training is one of the reasons I chose Marquette. My goal is to be on the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team.

Can’t imagine life without sports
I chose athletic training as my major, with the possibility of double majoring in athletic training and physical therapy. I have been around sports my entire life and cannot imagine one second without my life somehow revolving around them. The body and how it moves and works fascinates me. Athletic training combines that with the idea of helping athletes to perform at their optimal level, which is something I’m striving for right now. |
Diving in
I’m living in McCormick on the top floor, mainly because I need the exercise — just kidding! No, I chose McCormick because it is a residence hall where I can make a ton of new friends. I’m taking 14 credits and training at least twice a day, every day. Three days a week I have two or three classes in a row. Simply relaxing for 10 minutes on a futon or taking a short trip to the cafeteria will be a welcome break from the daily grind. But at Marquette, I expect nothing less. |
