Excellence at Marquette

Top teachers

Every year Marquette faculty select three peers who represent the best qualities of a teacher and honor them with the Faculty Awards for Teaching Excellence.

LAW PROFESSOR RALPH ANZIVINO responds to 10 to 15 e-mail messages and phone calls a day from law grads who want to puzzle through legal questions. He takes every call. “Why wouldn’t I? They are still a part of the Law School,“ he says, “maybe a bigger part now that they’re practicing.” Then there is Dr. Scott Reid, who teaches chemistry to Marquette students and even after 13 years still considers each one individually, seeking the common ground where learning can begin. Or Dr. Linda Laatsch, who says her clinical laboratory science students consider her tough but fair and admits that she’ll do anything to help them succeed, from gentle prod to full-out push. Get acquainted with three teachers who go to the mat for students.
