What is social bookmarking?

Social bookmarking is a practice of bookmarking web content and sharing that link with others. To share these links, users save their bookmarks to a web service that then aggregates commonly-tagged bookmarks into publicly accessible lists. Tags are descriptive words that a person uses to describe a link when saving it to to the service.
