EOP turns 40
In 1969, Marquette recruited 40 top students from Milwaukee high schools who had the academic promise and desire to be the first in their families to attend college. They became the inaugural class of Marquette’s Educational Opportunity Program.
This year EOP celebrates its 40th anniversary and the achievements of its 1,650 graduates. Focused still on making a Marquette education accessible to students and creating a support system to help them succeed, the program now annually serves more than 500 high school and college students.
Director Sandra Robinson has personally encountered almost every Marquette EOP graduate. “I’ve seen those eager, sometimes fearful students complete their degrees and launch successful careers of their own,” she says. “Our graduates serve in all facets of the private and public sectors, including at Fortune 500 companies and within the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C.” — AB
