Big East Coach of the Year
 |
| Terri Mitchell owns more wins, has a better winning percentage, and has taken her teams to more postseason action than any previous Marquette women’s basketball coach. |
What a season for the women’s basketball team, Terri Mitchell’s 11th year as head coach. Mitchell was named Big East Coach of the Year and for the first time since the 2003-04 season and the eighth time in school history, the team was invited to play in the NCAA Division I championship tournament.
Earlier this season the Golden Eagles sold out the Al McGuire Center for the first time when the team played a nail-biter before losing to Connecticut 48-52. The 4,000 fans in attendance made up the largest crowd gathered to support the Golden Eagles women’s basketball team in the program’s history.
Other highlights of the year included the team’s wins
over Big East Conference rivals Notre Dame and DePaul in regular-season play, and senior Danielle Kamm scoring her 1,000th point mid-season, becoming the 18th player in the program’s history to reach that milestone.
