What Grads Learned that Didn't come from Textbooks

Campus was getting a final polish before parents arrived; Senior Week was in full swing; and the soon-to-be graduates were picking up caps and gowns and feeling pretty carefree. When asked to name one fun thing they learned during four years at Marquette, the Class of 2006 didn’t miss a beat:

“I learned that it’s okay to touch people.” Rucha Patel, graduating from the PT program in the College of Health Sciences

“I learned everything always gets done; go with your gut and you’ll always land on your feet.” Peter Wendt, graduating from the College of Business Administration

“I learned you can comfortably lie on a bed of nails.” Jennifer Bustamante, a physics major graduating from the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

“I learned that the St. Joan of Arc Chapel is the oldest structure in the Western Hemisphere still used for its original purpose.” Elizabeth Feste, graduating from the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

“I learned a U2 concert is always a good idea, even the night before you have an exam.” Richie Niemer, graduating from the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

“I learned not to eat the Dagwood sandwich at Michael’s Restaurant the night before graduation.” Tim Petrie, graduating from the College of Business Administration

“I learned that the Downtown YMCA is the best place to workout.” Kelly Danko, graduating from the College of Health Sciences

“I learned that joining a sorority was the best thing I ever did.” Lisa Roe, graduating from the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

“I learned how to manage my time and study a lot.” Theodore Elsaesser, graduating from the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

"I learned the importance of work and play and how they help each other.” Dan Payette, graduating from the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.
