Jamie Ann WuJamie Ann Wu

Hometown: Douglas, Ariz. Major: Broadcast Journalism/Advertising. What’s next: Intern at Barkley Advertising Agency in Kansas City, and then leave for Taipei, Taiwan, to study Mandarin for a year. Ambitions: Start her own event-planning company and work as an advertising account executive. What kept her busy at Marquette: Leadership Program, Alpha Phi, University Ministry, Student Alumni Network, New Student Orientation. What she’s most proud of: “My organizational skills and ease at making friends” (Jamie is humble, but we’ll add that the Office of Student Affairs recently awarded her the Vice President’s Award for Distinguished Leadership, Scholarship and Service.) Guilty pleasure: Chocolate fondue and listening to Blondie. Favorite class: Advertising Principles. “It opened up the fascinating world of advertising to me.” Least favorite class: “One word: Statistics.” Favorite professor: “All of them! I can’t decide; but especially Linda Menck and James Scotton. They believe in me and expect only the best.” If she could do it over again: “I would have discovered my passion for advertising and event planning sooner.” Marquette’s impact: “Marquette has helped me face the world standing on my own two feet.” Advice to freshmen: “Make friends and build your support system, spend time doing the things you’re passionate about, and be open to the wonderful growth and changes that happen during your college tenure.” Favorite campus hangout: The Bridge. (It joins the Raynor and Memorial Libraries.) What she’ll miss most about Marquette: The community. What she won’t miss: The weather and Milwaukee construction. Weirdest Marquette moment: “The time the heel of my stiletto got caught in the elevator of David Straz business school.” Marquette moment she’ll never forget: “The moment I walked on campus and realized Marquette was the perfect fit and community for me.”
