Diann (Herzogenrath) Bomkamp, Dent Hy ’70, was elected vice president of the American Dental Hygienists Association. She is a clinical dental hygienist in St. Louis and also works for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Oral Health Program.
Bryce P. Edwards, Arts ’70, a managing director and vice chairman of Robert W. Baird & Co., received the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Service in Administration Award.
Sandra (Soden) Noel, Arts ’70, received the 2006 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching for her involvement in promoting and coordinating health programs. She was one of 850 Chicago-area teachers nominated for the award.
Dr. John W. Townsend, Arts ’70, heads the Population Council’s Reproductive Health Program. His responsibilities include determining program strategy and priorities. He previously directed the Frontiers in Reproductive Health Program.
Dr. Ronald E. Retzke, Arts ’70, Grad ’72 and ’76, was honored with the 2006
Distinguished Alumnus Award from Pacelli High School, Stevens Point, Wis.
Patrick J. Kelly, Arts ’71, was named president of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is a partner with Kelly & Fawcett, Pa.
Thomas J. Winninger, Sp ’71, was ordained a deacon by the Most Rev. Harry J. Flynn, D.D., archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

John A. Martinka, Bus Ad ’74, Grad ’76, led a team installing 160 computers in schools, hospitals, libraries and community centers in Zilina, Slovakia. He is on the board of Computers for the World, which has supplied thousands of computers to 20-plus countries.
Mark J. Sabljak, Jour ’74, publisher of the Business Journal of Greater Milwaukee, received the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Service in Communication Award.
Martha (Zadrozny) Grant, Sp ’76, Grad ’77, received her doctoral degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Hartford, Conn. She was the founder and first president of the Marquette Club of Hartford/Springfield.
Peter G. Wallers, Eng ’76, was elected president of Engineering Enterprises Inc. With the firm since 1977, he has vast experience in the designing and management of commercial, residential and municipal projects.

Brian F. McDermott, Jour ’77, published his second book. He is co-author of Time Out for Leaders: Daily Inspiration for Maximum Impact, a daily reader to help leaders re-set their spiritual clocks.
Anthony V. Crivello, Sp ’78, was nominated for the 2006 Joseph Jefferson Award for best supporting actor in the play A Flea in Her Ear. It is his second nomination.
Timothy P. Hanley, Bus Ad ’78, was named national industry leader for the Diversified Manufacturing & Industrial Products Sector of the Manufacturing Industry Practice. He leads sector-specific market creation to enhance business development. He is also a partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Brig. Gen. Luis R. Visot, Arts ’78, executive director of the University of South Florida’s Joint Military Leadership Center, is the highest ranking military officer ever to serve on the USF campus. He has been an Army reserve officer for 28 years.
Emily (Doyle) Iland, Arts ’79, received the Autism Society of America 2006 Literary Work of the Year award in the education division for the book Los Trastornos del Espectro de Autismo de la A a la Z, which she translated from the English version Autism Spectrum Disorders from A to Z.
David M. Murkowski, Sp ’79, was appointed probate judge for Kent County Probate Court by Gov. Jennifer Granholm. He previously served as managing partner of Dilley Dilley Murkowski & Goller in Grand Rapids, Mich.
