A Marquette education puts students in touch with the world

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of the Republic of Liberia, has pledged to bring peace, justice and reform to her people. She accepted an honorary doctor of laws degree in a ceremony at Marquette. “I will remember that warm crowd today,” she said. “I could see people understood. Whether I was sharing agony or joy, I could see the connection, and I will remember it.”

To support her efforts Marquette is granting a four-year full-tuition scholarship beginning fall 2007 to a Liberian woman of the president’s choosing.
