"My Pilgrimage"

Students and staff that participated in the first annual Marquette Civil Rights Pilgrimage last fall will share their experiences and the impact their trip had on their life here at Marquette at Noon on Monday, March 10. A light lunch will be served at this event.

Have you wondered what it’s like to experience history?  Are you going on a MAP trip and need some pointers?  Are you interested in hearing the stories of others?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, this Real People Real Stories event is for you.

After visiting several locations throughout the south, participants learned about the civil rights movement from those who lived it. Being at the place where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated was a powerful experience as were many other events on the trip.

Reflections during and after the trip brought to light many of the issues that people still face today.  Some people have become more introspective and aware of their own actions while others have started working to make change at a larger level.  All of them have a story to tell.

In addition to telling their stories and answering questions, students will show video clips of reflections and stops on the pilgrimage.

The “Real People, Real Stories” speaker series brings every day people with phenomenal stories to Marquette’s campus.
