RESEARCH/WRITING AWARD______________________
The Manresa Project announces an awards program designed to encourage research and writing about vocation in a variety of disciplines and professions by providing seed money for travel, materials, research, and writing. Many faculty members have had positive experiences teaching courses using Manresa themes and questions. Their prompting and the hope of the Manresa Project to expand discovery about vocation, service, moral and ethical behavior, meaning and purpose across the disciplines have sparked this opportunity for research and writing. So we pose these questions:
- How have you reflected on the calling or vocation of your own profession?
- How do the values of your faith tradition intersect with the ethical norms of your discipline?
- What questions of purpose or meaning are addressed in your discipline?
- How do individuals in your profession or discipline approach the needs of the community, of a larger global society?
- What are the possibilities for service, justice, and moral ethical thinking based on contemporary issues and concerns?
We want you to do some scholarly thinking, research and reflection about:
- Your profession or discipline, how individuals experience a sense of call, purpose or meaning in this work
- Moral and ethical dimensions of your profession or discipline
- Just service and practice related to your discipline
- Implications for global awareness and connection.
