Mission Week 2007

The theme of Mission Week 2007 was:
"Challenged to Choose: The Courage to Act". Mission Week more deeply connected the Opus theme
to our university's Catholic and Jesuit roots.

Mission Week 2007:
Challenged To Choose: The Courage to Act
February 2 - 10

Welcome to Mission Week 2007!

The founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), St. Ignatius of Loyola, was a complex man with a simple goal: “to help souls.” Ignatius spent his life becoming more single-hearted in his love for God and other people. He was at once a person of keen intellect, deep faith and easily stirred emotion. In short, he was a whole person who used his gifts in the service of others. This year, during Mission Week, we stop to ask ourselves how we as individuals and as a university community are growing toward single-heartedness in loving God and other people. We use the measuring sticks of Faith, Excellence, Leadership and Service as a kind of shorthand for the deeper mission of Marquette, and we reflect especially on the ethical dimensions of our decisions through this year’s theme,
“Challenged to Choose: the Courage to Act.”
Through eloquent speakers, moving liturgies, conversations about our work and studies, and events that build community among us, we make Mission Week something that
will last throughout the year. Most Mission Week events are free and open to the Marquette community; some are open to the public as noted.
Please join in the celebration!
