Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of the Rev. Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, and president
of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, will speak
on Faith, Justice and a Vision for the Future. King has
worked as a human rights advocate, community activist and
political leader throughout the world for more than three
decades. His commitment to a faithful and just response to
the inequalities in society make his reflections
particularly appropriate for Marquette's Mission Week.
Following a brief question and answer session, members of
the Marquette community are invited to join King at a
reception in the AMU. This event is co-sponsored by the
Office of Student Development, MUSG, University Ministry,
the Law School, the Diversity Task Force, the Black History
Month Committee, and the Office of Mission and Identity.
Free tickets for King's talk in the Varsity Theatre are sold out but tickets are available to view the speech via video in the Weasler Auditorium.
Individuals with tickets for the Varsity Theatre that they will not be using are asked to return the tickets to Union Station in the AMU or the Office of Student Development in AMU, 121.
